Throwback: Denmark

Saturday, May 23, 2015

October 2014. I returned to Denmark to visit my best friend, Arreanna, and her family in Pandrup, Denmark. Pandrup is a small town in northern Denmark, so small that it was established and populated only because it was a train stop.

Ari and I stayed at her grandmother's cottage on the outskirts of Blokhus--a small beach town. We had no cable or internet, so we resorted to drinking gin and going on long walks on the beach well after midnight. We would climb hills and stand at the top as our faces became windburnt. Wild raspberries grew alongside an overgrown trail leading down to the water. Eating the raspberries was a nice break from our constant diet of rye bread and Lurpak butter.

We made our way into Aarhus to do some vintage shopping and accidentally browse Communist bookstores, which apparently still exist.

Denmark will always feel like home thanks to great friends who helped make equally great memories.
