Summer Skincare Favorites

Summer time in Arizona is not for the faint of heart. I've lived here for over a decade and I am still appalled when the thermometer in my car reads 107-degrees at the end of May. Here are a few skincare items that I've fallen in love with and get me through the sauna that is Arizona.

I just ordered Luminance's Deep Hydration Moisturizer and I'm obsessed! I was a bit weary purchasing it, but did so anyway because of the great reviews and ingredients. My skin is sensitive to heavy moisturizers, but is also dry. This gives my skin the perfect amount of moisture it craves without being too heavy or greasy. Also, Luminance sent me a free soap square, which smells like marzipan. It reminds me of when I would obsessively eat chocolate marzipan hindbaer snitters in Denmark.

2-3 times a week I'll apply a serum under my moisturizer at night. If my skin is breaking out or feels a little sad, I'll put on Sunday Riley's Good Genes. If it needs a bit more moisture and a good pick-me-up then I'll apply Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. Both make my skin happy while also making me feel like a 19th century gypsy apothecary.

Sunscreen is a must in the desert...obviously...it's a desert. I use PCA because my dermatologist suggested it and it has a skin perfecting finish. If I'm going out during the day I'll add a drop or two of Cover FX's Custom Drops. Also, I tend to split my time between movie theaters and the pool during these months. If it's a pool day, then I'll be sure to spray some Lavender Hydrating Mist to cool down. It's surprisingly moisturizing and will make you chiller than Hendrix in the 70s.

Tata Harper is quickly becoming my favorite skincare brand. This tinted lip treatment is loaded with good ingredients and it is the perfect color. This one's from the Be Adored collection. Image's Ormedic Balancing Lip Enhancement is my tiny secret weapon. Doctors give this little guy to patients after they've had their lips injected with filler. Now I've never had any type of cosmetic alterations done, but the majority of Scottsdale has. I put this over everything! It's glossy, but still balmy and incredibly hydrating.

I know this isn't skincare, but I love me a good candle collection. These guys made it to the top two: Anthropologie's Volcano candle and Archipelago's Marine candle. Together they will transport you to Hawai'i.

What are some of your summer favorites?
